Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Integration
ZoneBilling supports a native integration to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) to enable syncing to various data Series (e.g. Consumer Price Index, Producer Price Indexes, etc.). Information sent from BLS can be leveraged in ZoneBilling - e.g. to set Renewal pricing or determine Rate Policy Adjustments.
For example, upon Renewal, a Rate is uplifted based on current CPI rates reported by the BLS. See example below.
The ZAB Bureau of Labor Statistics Series record is configured to define which BLS Series data are synced to NetSuite. Each time the Series is resynced, a ZAB Bureau of Labor Statistics Series Results record is created to house the current BLS data.
Upon configuration of a new ZAB Bureau of Labor Statistics Series record, data is fetched and ZAB Bureau of Labor Statistics Series Results records are created for the last ten years of data.
Key Characteristics
- A direct integration between BLS and NetSuite bypasses the need to create custom records to track CPI (or other datasets) over time or manually import records
- Bringing BLS data into NetSuite may be helpful for companies that uplift or manage pricing according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) or other indexes and reports
- The BLS integration is scheduled to automatically fetch new data every day
- The Refresh BLS Data button will refresh data for all listed Series
- The integration leverages the BLS API and the ZAB API
- Because the ZAB Bureau of Labor Statistics Series Results record houses detailed Series data, it is typically the preferred record for Searches and ZAB Processes that leverage BLS information
Before you begin
- You must first register for a free BLS API Registration Key and enter the key under ZAB Preferences. Visit ZAB Preferences to learn how to create a ZAB Preferences record.
- A number of BLS datasets can sync to NetSuite. To review available BLS Series and associated Series IDs visit https://www.bls.gov/help/hlpforma.htm.
