Fixed (Recurring) Rate Types are used when a set fee is charged at specific intervals, and is not contingent upon usage or other variable data. This Rate Type is typically used for selling membership fees, streaming services, and other services where the rate is fixed. While the rate is fixed, the charging cadence is ultimately determined by the Charge Schedule and Term. Learn more about this duo under Charge Schedule and Term Multiplier.

Example: Fixed (Recurring) Subscription Item with a Monthly Term
The following examples demonstrate how the Per Term field and Charge Schedule will impact the calculation of Charges.
Fixed (Recurring) Subscription Item with a Monthly Term and Monthly (non-calendar based) Charge Schedule
The same Fixed (Recurring) Subscription Item with a partial period
For partial periods, proration will occur based on the Per Term selected.
Note: the Proration Type field allows you to specify proration when the Per Term field is not populated, learn more here.
Example: Fixed (Recurring) Subscription Item with no Term selected
Fixed (Recurring) Subscription Item with a Quarterly Charge Schedule
When the Term is not specified, the Charge Schedule cadence (e.g. Quarterly) will dictate the Period (e.g. a single Period represents 3 Months ). In this example, the Term is not set and Do Not Prorate is selected, which means the first Charge and the Period (Quarter) are not prorated.
VS. Fixed (Recurring) Subscription Item with a Quarterly Charge Schedule and Monthly Term
A Term (Months) is specified, allowing for proration to occur. The Term Multiplier is 3 to reflect the number of Months in a Quarter. The Term Multiplier (value) is used in calculating the Charge Amount (Quantity * Rate * Term Multiplier = Amount).
