ZAB Plans allow you to templatize a grouping of preconfigured Subscription Items, making the setup process more efficient for standard Subscriptions. Leveraging ZAB Plans is helpful in instances where the client is continuously creating the same (or similarly-structured) Subscriptions, with the same group of Subscription Items, for a range of Customers.

A ZAB Plan is designed to house ZAB Plan Items which are templates for individual Subscription Items. One Plan Item may be used on multiple ZAB Plans if sold in different combinations.

For example, a business has a number of Customers who are sold the same Contract. The Contract includes a One-Time set-up Maintenance Fee and a Fixed (Recurring) License Fee.

The business leverages ZAB Plans to reduce the number of times the Contract has to be recreated. The ZAB Plan consists of two ZAB Plan Items. The first Plan Item represents a One-Time Subscription Item and the second represents a Fixed (Recurring) Subscription Item.

When the ZAB Plan is assigned to a Subscription, the Plan Items populate on the record as new child Subscription Items.

Before you begin

• Plan Items will inherit any Item-level ZAB Default field values that have been set. These defaults can be overridden on the Plan Item if needed. The values set on the Plan Item will populate on the ZAB Subscription Item, thus overriding any Item-level defaults.
  • Leveraging the NetSuite Item Default fields is also helpful in reducing the number of fields that need to be configured on the ZAB Plan Item.
• A ZAB Plan should not contain more than 15+ linked Plan Items. If there’s use case where this may be necessary, reach out to the Solution Architects team for assistance.

Key Characteristics

• ZAB Plan Items represent a specific Subscription Item configuration.
• Unlike Subscription Items, ZAB Plan Items are not dependent on a Parent record and therefore may be created before Subscription creation.
• A ZAB Plan Item Field Template may be leveraged when custom fields on the Subscription Item should be mapped to the ZAB Plan Item.
• ZAB Plan Item Field Maps allow you to select which custom fields should be mapped to the ZAB Plan Item Field Template as a collection of fields used on the ZAB Plan Item. See the diagram below:
