Rate Adjustment Multiplier in Search Results: If no value is mapped or supplied, an adjustment value of 1 is assumed (so that the rating calculation is unaffected).
If the field is populated, the formula Quantity * Rate * Rate Adjustment will be used to calculate Rate.
Bill Full Service Period: This setting is applicable for Count Usage only.
Checking this box will expand the Service Period that is being billed through the End Date so that it is not limited to the Charge Period. For example, a Customer can be billed from the Start Date through the end of the Subscription Item End Date in a single charge.
If you do not check this box, the Customer will be billed each Rating/Charge Period until the End Date.
Charge Every Period: This setting is applicable for Count Usage only, in conjunction with "Bill Full Service Period".
This will cause the system to rate the Count record every charge period.
For example, a Count record covering 1/1-12/31 could rate/charge as follows:
January (1/1-12/31)
February (2/1-12/31)
March (3/1-12/31)
etc.
Note: This is an unusual billing scenario and would not be selected in most cases.
Rate Adjustment Multiplier in Search Results Examples
This field is used to apply an additional adjustment amount when calculating the Rate to charge for a usage item. The adjustment amount would be specified in a column of your Rate Plan Search Map Saved Search. The values could be obtained from any related object, field, or formula.
If the field is populated, the formula Quantity * Rate * Rate Adjustment will be used to calculate Rate.
Examples use cases could include:
- A customer gives away free items
- Use a Rate Adjustment Multiplier of 0 so that Rate calculates to 0.
- A customer needs to credit items
- Use a Rate Adjustment Multiplier of -1 so that Rate calculates to a negative number to generate a credit.
- A customer applies surge pricing to a product
- Use a Rate Adjustment Multiplier of the surge rate (i.e. 1.75) so that Rate calculates the surge pricing against the Quantity and Rate.
Note: This adjustment is applied after the natural Rate is obtained through the normal Price Book process (if applicable) and before it is put on the Charge.
Bill Full Service Period Examples
When Bill Full Service Period is not enabled, Start Dates supplied by the search will land on the Charge Record Service Start Date.
When Bill Full Service Period is enabled, the service is extended to the Count Usage End Date. The Charge covers the full service period, no further charges are generated. In this example, the $200 charge covers full service from 1/2020-12/31/2020:
Custom Column Mappings
Column Maps move Search information to fields on the ZAB Charge (during the Rating process).
Additional Column Maps are often created for dimensions like Class, Location, or custom categorizations that live on the Usage data.
Charge Consolidation
- Charge Consolidation (Grouping and Aggregation):
- To reduce the number of records created, projected Charges are grouped by shared characteristics specified by the user (e.g grouped by Item, Rate, etc.) and consolidated to create a single Charge for the Period.
