It is highly recommended to use Preview Mode any time changes are made to a Display Configuration, Condition, or Action, to ensure that the changes produce desired results.
A Display Configuration must be in ‘Draft’ or ‘Saved’ status to render in Preview Mode; Configurations with a Status of ‘Editing’ will not be displayed.
Entering Preview Mode
- Use the Filters to select a Record Type and Context to use Preview Mode. This tells the system what ‘preview’ to render when the preview pane is opened.
- Click the ‘Enter Preview Mode’ button.
- You cannot enter Preview Mode until all in-progress Configurations have been saved as ‘Draft’.
Using Preview Mode
Preview Mode allows you to view all active and draft Display Configurations for a selected record type. In Preview Mode, test inputting values to meet the Condition to see the Action(s) execute in real-time on the page.
Note: This is a staged version of the record only; any changes made to the record (i.e. inputting or changing field values) are not saved in NetSuite. Any buttons (i.e. ‘Edit’, ‘Rate Now’) and links are not active and will not redirect to another record.
- Preview Mode renders based on the Context selected.
-
Context = Create
- A blank form of the record is displayed in create mode.
-
Context = Edit
- A randomized record of the selected record type is displayed in edit mode. Optionally input a specific record ID to preview that record.
-
Context = View
- A randomized record of the selected record type is displayed in view mode. Optionally input a specific record ID to preview that record.
-
Context = Copy
- A randomized record of the selected record type is displayed in copy mode. Optionally input a specific record ID to preview that record.
-
Context = Create
- Preview Mode displays the preferred form for the selected record type, in the specified context.
- Display Configurations marked ‘Inactive’ are not loaded in Preview Mode.
-
All Configurations active on the selected record type, applicable for the selected record type, execute. This allows you to ensure no conflicting or unexpected behavior exists across Configurations.
- For example, if you change the value in a field referenced by a Condition, related Actions may be executed and other fields may be displayed, hidden, or disabled.
- If the field is a record list (i.e. ‘Customer’ on the Subscription), you must use the dropdown list or search functionality within the list to select a value (not type the text in directly).
Optionally, edit a Display Configuration, Condition, or Action while in Preview Mode. You must re-save the draft, at which point the Preview pane is re-loaded to render the most recent version in real-time.
